Carl's Jr. & Hardees

Freshly Replatformed: Serving a Unified, Scalable Experience

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s needed to refresh their digital experience and move away from a heavy, hard‑to‑manage platform. The brands were also looking to better connect online ordering with marketing and menu content—without sacrificing each brand’s distinct personality.

The Challenge

CKE was relying on Sitecore alongside a separate eCommerce engine for online ordering. The existing setup made it difficult for marketing teams to quickly update content, coordinate promotions, and manage two large brands with shared needs but different identities. They needed a CMS replacement that was lightweight, affordable, and easy to use—yet still flexible enough to support a dynamic content calendar and multiple brands leveraging shared content structures. At the same time, the program had to align multiple stakeholders and external partners against a tight timeline, while maintaining existing integrations with Olo and new connections to Punchh and mParticle.

The Solution

Sagepath Reply replatformed carlsjr.com and hardees.com to Kentico, replacing Sitecore with a CMS that gives marketers more direct control over content updates and future enhancements. The team designed and implemented an architecture, sitemap, navigation, and component library that can be shared across both brands, while still allowing each to express its own visual identity, tone of voice, and product mix. The new design system supports a bold, refreshed look for Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s and is built to scale across non‑commerce experiences. On the commerce side, the front‑end ordering experience was updated to align with Olo’s framework and constraints, retaining Olo as the back‑end ordering engine and preserving existing ordering functionality and integrations. Kentico now sits at the center of the content experience and connects to Olo, Punchh, and mParticle to enable a more seamless, omnichannel journey across web and mobile.
